Update on You Guys and Suggestion

Hey Guys,

Juan came down from Westchester on Sunday! Jessica was home studying for Regents, but promises to be back this Sunday! Haley read from MLK, Jr. in service. Abby sings in the choir now! Eddie was "the coolest teenager" at the retreat according to my husband and others that were so impressed at how he related to adults and to the younger kids. Brooklyn has been a great help in Sunday school. Liz is the chaperone to have when there are 4 kids under 6, an icy slope and a toboggan. Alec, Connor, and Lily know how to flip those pancakes for retreat breakfasts!

I know it's a busy school season, but let's reunite! Come this Sunday to church, maybe we can catch lunch together. The Westchester J's (Juan and Jessica) will be trekking in. [In case you've forgotten, worship is at 11:00 AM. - Mark]

Plan to help Tuesday, Feb 5th, for the Pancake Supper. We need help from 5:30-8PM. Sign up for a shift by emailing bethfpc@aol.com or post a comment here.

Lastly, practice for your tests. PSAT's make you nervous, so improve your vocabulary AND feed the hungry. Go to freerice.com (see link in margin) and earn rice for each correct answer. It's addictive; I love it.

Pancake Supper

It's an annual tradition that the youth make pancakes for Supper for the whole congregation and Sunday school on Shrove/Fat Tuesday. That's coming up fast, it's on February 5th.

We've started prep around 5 and started dinner at 6:15PM with shifts of volunteers as they can arrive and leave.

Volunteers, contact Rev. Beth, soon!

"ubuntu": living like we belong to one another

Ubuntu is the theme to the Church-Wide retreat this winter. It is a family-friendly (there will be room to get away from your folks and have fun with others!) weekend of hanging out, eating, playing in the snow, singing, board games, whatever you might want to do...

The dates are over the Martin Luther King Jr, holiday weekend - from Friday evening January 18 until "sometime" on Monday January 21. You come when you can, leave when you must, come back if you are able. The retreat is being held at the Grail Retreat Center in Cornwall-on-Hudson, in the heart of the Hudson Highlands.

More information is available in the full retreat brochure, available on-line at: http://fpcbrooklynyouth.googlepages.com/winterretreatbrochure.doc

If you are interested in coming (with OR WITHOUT your family) or have questions, drop a note to Mark or you can register with Chris Neuner.
